Just Be, Explained (Ongoing Series): Why it can feel a little uncomfortable at first.

“Just be” sounds simple, but it brings up a lot of real questions. I’ll be sharing some of the most common ones and answering from experience, not concepts. This is one that comes up often...
Q: “If I’m supposed to ‘just be,’ why does it feel so uncomfortable when I actually try to do it?”
A: Because most of us have been trained our whole lives to do, fix, chase, improve, or distract ourselves. When we finally stop and just be, there’s nothing to hide behind. The noise we’ve been avoiding shows up. Restlessness shows up. Old feelings show up.
That discomfort isn’t failure. It’s unfamiliarity.
“Just being” feels uncomfortable at first because it’s honest. But if you stay with it without trying to change anything, the mind slowly gets quieter over time. Soon you realize you’re not doing it wrong, you’re just meeting yourself without all the usual armor.
This is just one of the many questions that tend to arise when we begin to slow down and simply be. I’ll keep sharing these in this ongoing series.
You’re always welcome back!
